Dance, with room for everyone.

Gentle Barre is an adaptive dance program for children in Miami, rooted in classical ballet and creative movement. Ballet gives each class its structure and music; exploration, play, and individual expression matter just as much.

Why Gentle Barre exists

Gentle Barre began with a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to experience dance in a way that feels welcoming, meaningful, and possible for them.

After years of working in both dance and behavioral education, I saw how often traditional dance environments asked children to adapt themselves to the structure of the class. I wanted to create something different. Gentle Barre brings together the beauty and structure of classical ballet with a slower, more responsive approach to movement, making space for different bodies, different ways of communicating, and different ways of learning.

The goal isn't to make every child dance the same way. It's to give every child room to discover their own way to dance.

Ballet and creative movement

Ballet offers something many children find comforting: a clear structure, repeated positions, music with a steady count, and a shared vocabulary. Creative movement offers the opposite gift: freedom to explore, invent, and respond without a single correct answer.

Together they give dancers both a frame and the space inside it.

Accessibility shapes the room

We think about the whole experience: how a dancer arrives, how loud the music is, how long each activity lasts, what a transition looks like, and where to go for a quiet moment. Instructions come in more than one form. Props and movement games give abstract ideas something to hold onto.

Belonging comes first

Children of every gender, background, and way of moving are welcome. Participation can look different for each dancer, and watching, resting, and joining in later all count.

An arts program, not therapy.

Gentle Barre is an arts and movement program. Our classes do not diagnose, treat, or aim to change any condition, and they are not a substitute for therapy. Our purpose is dance: learning, moving, creating, and belonging.
